Farenheight 9/11

I liked it. I could have watched another two hours of that stuff. I didn’t expect it to be as funny as it was. There was one point, when they were naming all of the US’s “allies” and showing horribly stereotypic images of the country in the background, where I was cringing soooo badly. I thought, for sure, that Spain would be next with some sort of bull or flamenco dancer in the background. I wanted to melt into my seat to avoid the reaction from the audience. But they didn’t name Spain. Jan liked the film, as well. But she didn’t particularly care for the last third. Too mushy, she says, what with the whole “mother who lost her son” thing and all. I see her point. They did kinda beat that horse to death.

My Scruffy Puppy

Just three more to go! I’ve been translating this cartoon Series called Scruff from Catalan to English for the past week and, quite frankly, I’m sick of it. I did the voice of Peter (Llisot) in the first two series and we’re getting ready to dub the third season now. There are 40 episodes and I was asked to translate and adjust 10 of them. Translating is pretty straight forward, but for those of you who don’t know, adjusting involves rewriting all the translated dialogue so it still fits in the mouths of the characters from the original version. When all is said and done, I’m going to have to watch each episode about 5 times each!

Working with a client

I’m ready to start this whole journal/blogging thing. I figured that it’d be a pain to log on to the web site every time I wanted to update my journal, so I’m currently experimenting with the different clients out there. I’m writing this entry with LochJournal. So far so good.

It loads pretty quickly and has all the options I need to make changes in LJ. I’ll still install a couple others and try them on for size. I especially like that it automatically detects the song I’m listening to on WinAmp and adds it to the entry. Sweeeet.

Getting things in order

OK, I’ve spent the better part of today surfing through random pages on LJ to find inspiration. I tried dozens of different layouts and color combinations, background images, customized entry fields, etc.

Then I spoke with Amanda who reminded me that she reads all of her friends’ entries in her own layout so no one really sees her layout except for her. I hadn’t thought of that. And here I was trying to impress the world.

In the end, I decided that simple was better and left it at that.

(mental note: start applying LJ philosophies to life)

The Grand Opening

Rebecca is here. Amanda is here. Even cousin Marli is here. I can’t get myself to update my huge Barcelona Bulletin on anything that resembles a regular basis. So let’s see if this works.

I think I just have to tell myself that every entry doesn’t have to be a mammoth effort. Little by little. You’ll all catch up with my life again.

Now I just have to learn how to use this thing…
