I bought my tickets today for a holiday trip to the USA in which I plan to teach Jan all about the beauty that is Chanukah.

We have three events to attend in the Sunshine State. First will be attending what my sister Amanda calls the Mom-and-Phil-athon: a party to celebrate a healthy milestone in both their lives. (cryptic enough?) Then comes the Festival of Lights: Chanukah. I’ve told Jan the stories and even had a Chanukah party at my house a couple years ago where we ate latkas and played dreidle, but she’s never been subject to Chanukah with my entire family. I hope she survives to tell the tale. Then, to top it all off, we’re planning on celebrating my Aunt Ruthie’s 85th birthday with all my aunts and uncles and cousins etc. We have a fairly large family on my mother’s side. It’ll be a memorable event that many psychiatrists will have the pleasure of hearing about for years to come. Joy!
