I just got home from a nice “curry” out with the gang. I ordered the chicken with spinach but I received the spinach with chicken, Big difference. I ordered it “spicy” but Ewan ordered his “very spicy”. He quickly ran out of beer and spent a good portion of the meal tearing. He himself said that he looked like someone had just spent the past 10 minutes repeatedly slapping him in the face. He was right. Catherine ordered hers “normal” and got just about the same amount of spice as Ewan. Her red sweater paled beneath her face. Chris “the human vacuum cleaner” finished his curry before the waiter had finished serving us all. No coffee for me – it makes me jittery.

Action Stations
I found out at Tuesday’s volleyball practice that we don’t have a game scheduled for this weekend. Immediately I knew I had to plan something. We have games every weekend from now till June so this is a rare occasion indeed! I asked Jan if she wanted to go on a romantic skiing weekend with me – just the two of us. Head up Saturday night, stay in a hotel (with a bathtub!), and ski all day Sunday. The perfect plan.
I set myself into action. “To the internet, Robin!” I found the perfect ski slope: La Molina – the only mountain that’s any good before you hit Andorra. I found the perfect hotel: Hotel Solineu – right at the foot of the slopes. Now, how do we get there?
Last minute car rental isn’t an option – too expensive. I know: the train! So I searched online to find the train timetable. And I searched. And searched. Nothing. I found timetables for every train leaving Barcelona except the one I needed! Curses.
After searching some more, I found that the snow was particularly hard this weekend. No powder? Harrumph! Using this as justification, Jan and I decided to spend the next two days lying on the couch watching films.

The 2005 Bloggies
I just spent the past two hours voting in the Fifth Annual Weblog Awards. I didn’t vote in every category – Australian, food, and topical weblogs just don’t interest me. But most of the other categories were filled with blogs that I have been enjoying for months (or years) and others that I had never heard of. To make an educated decision, I tenaciously browsed through dozens of blogs, articles, and photographs. After much clicking and even more reading, I made my decisions. There’s a lot of crap out there and this is a great way to discover some quality sites that you might not have stumbled upon otherwise. I’ve been a fan of Flickr, Movable Type, Slashdot, Defective Yeti, Boing Boing, MetaFilter, and Fark.com for a long time now. Thanks to this year’s Bloggies I have happily discovered Photo Friday, Dooce, The Soxaholix, 456 Berea Street, and He Looks Like…. Happy Surfing!

Val To The Rescue

Valerie (or Val, as we like to call her) is a lovely Irish lass. We’re almost the same age. Val was my stage manager for Little Shop of Horrors. We go skiing together every year. She moved down to Malaga this year to work in an event managment company. She has since moved back to Barcelona to set up her very own company. Tonight, Jan and I invited Val over for dinner and to talk weddings – Val is our wedding planner.

Crying in the 8th Dimension
I watched The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension tonight with Jan. I hadn’t seen this film since I was about 10 so when I saw it online I knew I had to download it. I have to admit I was kinda excited because I still have such distinct memories of certain parts of the film and certain creatures that scared me when I was younger. Now, 20 years later, I can safely say that this film is sooooooo bad! It’s horrible. I know it has a cult following and certain parts are very funny, but the whole thing is so random, mumbled, and dense that it becomes almost unwatchable. They had a good idea and it certainly had a lot of potential, but this film officially bites the big one. Another romantic childhood memory crushed.

Sabbath Prayer
There have been no updates to this blog for the past four days because Jan and I have spent that entire time talking about religion. You see, we went to services Friday night to talk with the rabbi there about our upcoming wedding. I really want a Jewish wedding and Jan wants me to have what is important to me. So the first step was to find a rabbi.

Donkey Xote

I had a very interesting audition today. I am up for a part in Filmax’s new animated feature Donkey Xote! I don’t have a part yet, but I know the director having worked with him on last year’s El Cid The Legend and he personally called me a few months ago to record the voice of Rucio for the DX trailer so I think my chances are pretty good. I auditioned for two different parts (though I may be cast as anyone). I auditioned for the parts of Rucio – Sanco Panza’s donkey and the main character of the film – and James Rooster – a comic secondary character. I was happier with my performance as James Rooster but I would really prefer the part of Rucio (obviously). The director told me that they’re currently talking with Kevin Bacon and Danny DeVito so anything could happen here. They want to record the voices within the next month so we should know something soon. Wish me luck!

Chinese Pr0n And Noodle Soup
I like to keep track of who views my website (yes, big brother is watching you). I’m a statistics kinda guy. Today I saw that someone from China had taken a gander at the old weblog! I also like to know how people got to my site (yes, I can do that, too). I saw that Mr. China had clicked over from a Chinese version of a Yahoo search engine called seek.3721.com. What was he searching for from so far away that I have on my blog? He was searching for “janxxx“. Apparently, in my entry titled, “Surreal Theatre“, Jan signed the bottom, “Love, Janxxx (and Josh!!)”. This entry must have popped up when he searched for “janxxx” and he clicked through. I wonder if he found what he was looking for.
