I just spent the past two hours voting in the Fifth Annual Weblog Awards. I didn’t vote in every category – Australian, food, and topical weblogs just don’t interest me. But most of the other categories were filled with blogs that I have been enjoying for months (or years) and others that I had never heard of. To make an educated decision, I tenaciously browsed through dozens of blogs, articles, and photographs. After much clicking and even more reading, I made my decisions. There’s a lot of crap out there and this is a great way to discover some quality sites that you might not have stumbled upon otherwise. I’ve been a fan of Flickr, Movable Type, Slashdot, Defective Yeti, Boing Boing, MetaFilter, and Fark.com for a long time now. Thanks to this year’s Bloggies I have happily discovered Photo Friday, Dooce, The Soxaholix, 456 Berea Street, and He Looks Like…. Happy Surfing!
