What’s A “Tech Weekend”?

We open on Friday (2 days from today). That means that this past weekend was what we call the “tech weekend”.

We started things off in style with Friday’s five hour set building marathon. “Too-tall-Dutch” Ed, as always, was a God-send. Then Saturday delivered a lovely seven hour stumble through where we finally saw what the other members of the group had been working on for the past six weeks. This was also our first opportunity to rehearse on what will be our set and with all the music and sound effects. Sunday provided hours of fun atop a 15-foot ladder hanging and focusing lights before our cue-to-cue and tech rehearsal (another seven hour day). Monday had me scouring the city to buy/find all missing bits of props and costumes. And then last night was our final dress rehearsal. It wasn’t completely there, but whatever was missing will probably/hopefully be summoned by opening night’s adrenaline rush. I’m quietly confident. I spent most of today relaxing in front of the computer, putting the finishing touches on the programme which I need to drop off at the printer tomorrow. Word on the street has it that opening night will be close to sold out. I hope the rest of the run follows suite. I need to make back the 700€ that I’ve already invested in this show! Like I said: I’m quietly confident.
