Remembrance

As is my intention, my blog is a fairly accurate reflection of my life. For fear of spreading the darkness that has overshadowed my life recently, I have been putting off writing here. Or maybe it was the fear of having to confront that darkness. Two very special people, representing two very distinct circles in my life, were tragically taken from my life on December 26, 2005: Helen Kirk and Nancy Jacobs. I have finally put my anger aside and, in an attempt to brighten the world as these two wonderful girls did in life, I will now attempt to tell you a little of what made them so special.

I met Helen in 2003 when fate brought her to Barcelona from England. We worked together for one year at IPA, touring theatre in English around Catalunya. She was my mother and sister in Metamorphosis and my girlfriend in Dracula The Musical. Helen had an energy that filled a room. She was sweet and playful and adventurous and bawdy. I’m convinced that she must have slept with a smile on her face. One time, when we were driving to San Sebastian while touring through the Basque Country, we found ourselves stuck in traffic on the highway. It was late at night and the winter cold had us shivering in the car. Much to the amusement of the bus load of teenagers next to us, Helen agreed to get out of the car with me, turn up the car radio to full blast, and swing dance between the cars that were stood still on the road to keep warm. That was two years ago when Helen was only 22 years old.

  1. What a moving thing to read your blog. We’d like to send you a copy of the service of celebration and remembrance of our Helen and of the three family tributes made in the church and some recent photos if you’d like.

We’d love to know if you have any video recordings (cd?)of the work you did together in Spain.

    very best wishes

Roger and Annie – Helen’s parents.

  2. Thank you for writing such a wonderful tribute to Helen and the beautiful photo. The service of celebration was quite amazing and a very fitting tribute to a lovely girl who touched many, many people’s lives. Kind regards Catherine (Aunt)

  3. Hiya Sweetheart,

So glad to hear about your sweet new babe on the way….Anything you ever had pre-conceived notions about….foget ’bout it sweetheart! Let me know if you’re looking for a great natural comadrona….Marenostrum (Dra. Otrud Lindemann) is phenomenal on all counts.

On the other side of the stick, my dear, so sorry to hear about the recent death of both your friends Helen and Nancy. I think you’re doing the right thing by writing about it…. Lives leave us and then we are blessed by others coming our way…Our time on this planet is nomadic at best…
