The Final Frontier

Jan and I spent most of the weekend cleaning and rearranging the front room so as to keep our minds off of the play. I think Jan is happy with the new layout and the newfound floor space because I saw her plodding around and muttering to herself, “I could be a great big blobby fat man and walk all over the place.”

Stopping Time

The alarm clock that sat next to my head for the past year and a half decided to start making this ever-so-soft, almost-inaudible hum last week. The key word there being “almost”. The damn thing drove me nuts! I’m a fairly heavy sleeper and nothing can normally stop be from nodding off when I’m tired, but that infernal hum made me rip the clock out of the wall and throw it in the garbage. Now I need a new alarm clock.

Swing When You’re Winning

I thought I was going to call my teacher and quit my swing dance class that I attend every Wednesday night, but I surprised myself by going this week. The little devil on my left shoulder reminded me of how far from home it was; how many classes I’ve already missed because of the play; and how Jan isn’t taking this class with me because Wednesday is her “Hell Day” at work. But all it took from the little angel on my right shoulder was a, “Come on, you know you love it.” I’m looking forward to next week’s class.

Firefox 1.0 Is Here!

If you are still using Internet Explorer of any version, I highly recommend that you download, install and give FireFox a try. I have been using this browser for well over a year with no problems. Spyware? Adware? Pop-Ups? Changing of your home page? Security problems? Not an issue with FireFox. It is very light weight and efficient at what it does. Plus, I love navigating with tabs.

Go get FireFox now. You have nothing to lose.

In My Little Cave

With the play opening in just over a week, I can’t afford to get sick now. That’s why, when both Jan and I simultaneously felt like we might be coming down with something last night, I knew I had to take special care of myself. I didn’t go to volleyball practice last night because we had an emergency Philip Glass rehearsal; I didn’t go to swing dance class tonight to get some extra rest; I probably won’t go to volleyball tomorrow night either – just to be safe. All day Friday should be dedicated to building last minute set pieces. Then we have the killer tech rehearsals all weekend. My life should return to its normal-yet-hectic status after opening night next Friday. I hope.

Lookin’ Good

OK, this was a great little experiment. I got a Movable Type weblog installed and I’ve learned just enough CSS to make it halfway presentable. Now I’m ready to do it right. You may have noticed that this site is far from pefect. Well that’s all gonna change, for I am in touch with my CSS Zen and am now the CSS Guru! Prepare yourselves for a new layout and design. So if you find the site temporarily down, that only means that good things are happening. Exciting, isn’t it?

Invasion Of Privacy

I put an ad in a magazine here in Barcelona to advertise the new play that I’m directing: All In The Timing. When the new issue came out, I saw that they had added my personal homepage address in the ad! They must have read it off the signature at the bottom of my email. I had no intention for every reader of the Metropolitan magazine to read my weblog so I rushed home to change the site. I threw together a quick promo site in case anyone actually visited the site. Feel free to check it out at www.joshzam.com. Hell, you might as well come to the the play, too!
